Summary
A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease can be terrifying, causing patients and their families to instantly imagine the harshest aspects of an inevitable decline. This program explores the lives of three people with Alzheimer's to show that while the disease certainly poses a challenge, there are ways for both patients and caregivers to cope. Adele credits an aggressive treatment plan, along with her husband's support, for keeping her dementia in the mild stage. Bernie and Evelyn, both in the moderate stage, still pursue hobbies and appreciate family relationships-though Bernie's wife benefits from a support group when her patience wears thin. Stressing early detection, caregiver options, and having "as much grace and humor as possible," the video holds out hope for AD patients and their families alike
